The film was a new take on an old tale, first told in 1936, then again in 1948 (« 3 Godfathers ») as a western. Here, the story of three homeless people who find an abandoned baby and try to find the parent responsible, is set in Tokyo on Christmas Eve. Is this a Biblical parable?
